PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This 24-week, paid apprenticeship, designed for early-career technical professionals, deepens apprentices’ expertise through on-the-job training, continued education, and mentorship. We pair each apprentice with two mentors who support their technical and non-technical skill development.

Build Carolina handles the applicant screening process, providing a curated pool of diverse talent ready to contribute from day one. The apprentices undergo a rigorous application process, including video submissions and technical and non-technical interviews, ensuring a solid match between candidates and employers. 

Hosting an apprentice offers the opportunity to mold talent specifically for your needs, making it a low-risk, cost-effective option. Over six months, employers can evaluate and train apprentices without a long-term commitment. Many employers find the apprenticeship so beneficial that they decide to keep the apprentices on after the program—and in many cases, these apprentices have received promotions within their first year after completing the program.

Build Carolina’s apprenticeship program, Develop Carolina, was established in January 2022 and has a strong track record. Apprentices bring valuable transferable skills from previous careers, which enhances their productivity and reduces turnover. As a Registered Apprenticeship, employers also gain access to state tax credits and standardized training, with apprentices earning a Journeyworker certification from the Department of Labor upon completion.
